DNF IM Syracuse 70.3 Triathlon: I went into this race not rested and hoping to do it just as a training day. That said I paid the price. I came out of the water in the lead group and off the bike in 3rd place. I went out onto the VERY HOT run course feeling pretty tired. I ended up dropping out. It was a great experience and I learned more on what my body can take. The race was a beautifully run event and put on in the gorgeous setting of Syracuse, NY.

DNF REV3 Quassy Half Ironman: This was one of my first races of the season and the who’s who came out to compete for the $50,000 purse prize. I knew the course was very hilly and knew it was going to be a very tough field. I came out of the water in the second pack and went out onto the very hilly bike course pushing hard. I pushed it too hard and ended up dropping out on the run. My power numbers were way too high at the beginning of the bike and this caused me to have to drop out. It was another lesson learned on how far I can push my body. This race is one of the most challenging 70.3 courses in the country. It is extremely well run event and put on in a very fun and inviting environment for the entire family to enjoy.

This year was a year of growth and understanding. It was my first year that I ever competed in a full Ironman event. I’m very happy I finished it but most of all I’m happy with how much I learned. It was a year full of a lot of training and hard work. A year that I chose races were I was racing against some of the best athletes in the world. I’m looking forward to taking this knowledge and putting it to use for 2014. CONGRATS to all those that raced and all I raced against. You all inspire me and push me to get stronger and better.
